For Prosciutto

Prosciutto and fig sangwichI threw this little diddy together on my way to the library this morning. It is comprised of:

  • French Baguette from Spiga
  • Prosciutto
  • Provolone
  • Dario Cecchini’s Pepper Jelly
  • Tomato
  • Red onion
  • A very ripe fig from my mom’s garden; quartered.
  • Wrap in aluminum foil, place on dashboard and park in sun. Sandwich will be runny, warm and awesome. #needsbeer.

    Hey, did you guys know that Murray’s makes sandwiches?


    And they’re spectacular. The above little number is some sort of “Proprietary Blend of White Cheeses” with bacon then pressed. It was freaking great. $3.99.

    Spoiler Alert: This sandwich was better than the aforementioned Manganaro hero(s). Like, if-life-was-a-fight-their-asses-would-be-grass better. Saturday we went to My Hero, Long Island’s Great White Hope for having good lunch spots. Back in high school we would drive like the wind to get here, stand in line, eat and race like hell to get back to class on time. It was our Friday treat: My Hero and Metallica.     Manganaro’s Grosseria versus Manganaro’s HeroBoy: Mneh.


    Spurred on by the Midtown Lunch Lovefest over the Manganaro’s sandwich empire/duality, I’ve been dying to try out at least one of their chicken parms. For whatever reason I always thought that it was further away than it actually is, so I just made due with La Beleca Pizza on 7th and 40th. For a year now I’ve been very happy with the chicken parm there; they load up the bread with cutlets, sauce, and mozz then throw them in the pizza oven. It’s huge and awesome and $6.
